When Minnesota opened the door to legal adult-use cannabis, communities faced a choice. They could stand back and let the market arrive on its own terms, or they could take part. We chose to take part. The Village Muni Cannabis Local is the result: a municipally owned dispensary.
Why a city would open a dispensary
It sounds unusual until you think about who ought to be running a regulated product in your neighborhood. A municipal shop answers to residents, not distant investors. Decisions about how the store runs, what it stands for, and where its revenue goes stay close to home.
That local accountability changes the tone of the whole experience. We are not trying to be the loudest shop in the metro. We are trying to be the one you trust.
What "local" actually means here
The word is in our name for a reason. Local ownership means a few concrete things:
- Community-first priorities. We are part of Saint Anthony Village, not just located in it.
- Education before sales. You should understand what you are buying, and we would rather spend ten minutes explaining than ten seconds ringing you up.
- Responsible operation. We follow Minnesota’s rules carefully because our neighbors are watching, and they should be.
